Betty Ann Motton, who also went by Betty Charlot, disappeared from Greenville on November 7, 1980. After a couple of weeks of no contact, she was reported missing to Greenville Police Department. Her remains would be found on Friday, December 5, 1980, in an overgrown lot east of the city limits of Greenville. A man who was looking at a parcel of land stumbled upon her remains about a mile east of the city limits near U.S. Highway 82. Washington County Sheriff’s Department was called out. Motton’s death was ruled a homicide. No one has ever had to answer for her murder. In fact, the only media coverage of her at all is one article stating that her body had been found. Her case remains unsolved and believed cold as ice due to there being no mention of her murder over the past 45 years.
